Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) is proud to announce the commencement of a training program under the title “Artisans/MSMES to enhance Vegetable Tanning Know-how and Skill at Cottage Level” The program is being conducted at Masaka Business Incubation Centre in Kigali, Rwanda.

The training program’s objective is to build the capacity of artisans/MSMES on vegetable tanning and batik dyeing techniques at cottage level. The 10 days training program started on 6th and will end up on 15th May, 2024. The ALLPI team is composed of Harrison Mungai, Leather Value Chain and Tannery Expert as the Team leader, Dr. Abdel Rahim M. Ahmed Quality Assurance Innovation and R&D Expert and Mrs. Beza Jima, Financial Officer with Mr. Harrison Mungai r. The training has attracted 25 participants (18 men and 7 ladies) who are drawn from different parts of Rwanda

The training workshop was officially open by Mr. Eric KOMEZA, Industrial Infrastructure Policy Specialist, representing the Ministry of Trade and Industry (MINCOM) Republic of Rwanda, in his official opening remarks, Mr. KOMEZA expressed his pleasure and honor on behalf of MINICOM to welcome ALLPI Team and the participants stating that the workshop’s aim is to equip the Artisans/MSMES with vegetable tanning know-how and skill at cottage level. He further added that MINICOM recognizes the importance of the artisans and MSMES in driving the economics growth of the sector urging them to take the opportunity to learn from the ALLPI Experts team through interactive and practical demonstration sessions.

On his closing remarks, Mr. KOMEZA thanked ALLPI for its continuous support for development of leather sector in Rwanda.
