Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) continues to intensify efforts to boost its member states Leather sector SMEs Productivity and Competitiveness.
This intervention is made possible through the grant funding support provided by the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA). The support comprises provision of “basic equipment for footwear production” and “capacity building Training in Footwear and leather good Design, Craftsmanship, Export Readiness, Transformative Entrepreneurship, Costing and Record Keeping”
Earlier this year ALLPI completed installation of equipment at Masaka Business Incubation Business Center in Rwanda. The installation of the equipment is proceeded with the capacity building training which commenced on the 18th April, 2022 at Masaka Business Center and it is running up to the 30th April, 2022.
The training was graced by Mr. Mulindankaka Evalde, the Acting Director General of Industry Promotion and Entrepreneurship Development. In his key note speech, Mr. Mulindankaka Evalde explained that ALLPI is a very important institution that is helping to develop the leather sector in Rwanda, and he urged training participants to embrace the training program. He informed the SMEs that the equipment and machines installed at the center are meant to transform their lives and Rwanda at large. He encouraged the trainees to work together and enhance the “Made in Rwanda leather shoes and goods”. He further stated that “made in Rwanda leather shoes and goods” will subsequently create market for the hides and skins as well.
In conclusion the Acting Director thanked ALLPI and BADEA the generous support to leather sector and the Rwandan government at large.
