The COMESA – Leather and Leather Products Institute (LLPI), in collaboration with the UNCTAD Unit of Economic Cooperation and Integration among Developing Countries, is hosting UNCTAD’s Project on “Strengthening Regional Supply Chains in Leather Sector in Sub-Saharan Africa”, funded by the Commonwealth Secretariat.

The Project aims at forming regional leather sector supply chains to assist selected African countries in value addition of their leather and diversification of their exports.

It is, therefore, planned to organize and host a Regional Stakeholder Meeting in Ethiopia at the Kuriftu Resort and Spa in Debre Zeyit (Bishoftu)  Town, during 16th – 17th May 2013, to discuss strategies for promoting regional supply chains at national and international levels, by involving leather industry stakeholders, i.e. tanners, exporters, manufacturers, investors and policy makers from selected African countries  and other relevant stakeholders.

Over 30 key stakeholders from member states of COMESA, SADC, and ECOWAS are expected to participant in the workshop.
