India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) has hailed the 2016 India International Leather Fair as a success.

The exhibition, which took place in Chennai from January 31 to February 3, attracted 637 buyers from outside India, which CLE has said constitutes an increase of 70% compared to the figure for 2015. International buyers came from 66 different countries. Overall, 12,556 visitors attended the event.

COMESA/Leather and Leather products Institute (COMESA/LLPI) Team composed of the Institute’s Executive Director, Prof. Mwinyiuhija and Leather Value Chain Expert and Personal Assistant to the Executive Director, were among the visitors. There were 456 exhibitors at CLE 2016, with 156 of them coming from outside India. Twenty-five overseas countries were represented among the international exhibitors.
