Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) have kicked of the Regional Leather Value Chain Strategy Review process aimed at developing a new strategy.

The first round of the process has been started on 15th November 2021 virtually involving 4 COMESA countries namely, Eswatini, Madagascar, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

The process involves the reviewing of the performance of the elapsed Strategy (2012-2016) and identification of key constraints at each segments of leather value chain. The same exercise will continue with remaining 10 countries in two groups namely, Burundi, DR Congo, Malawi, Rwanda, Uganda in one group and Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya and Sudan in another group.

This activity is part of the Regional Enterprise Competitiveness and Access Program (RECAMP) which funded by the 11th EDF program of COMESA and is conducted by ALLPI.
