• ALLPI conducted a Regional Hybrid workshop on the hides and skins traceability and Eco-certification system

    A Regional Hybrid workshop on setting ground for the physical piloting of the hides and skins traceability and Eco-certification system was conducted during 4th – 7th April 2023 in a hybrid mode (virtual and physical). A total of 40 participants from 10 ALLPI Member countries namely, Burundi, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Rwanda, Sudan, Uganda, Zambia and Zimbabwe.

    Participants from each country converged in a hotel at each respective country and linked with other country participants in a virtual means making a hybrid meeting.

    Objectives of the workshop are:

    1. To set grounds for the physical piloting of the hides and skins traceability and Eco-certification system.
    2. To identify and orient the selected pilot centers and the personnel to run the centers on how coding system and eco-certification needs.
    3. To draft a crosscutting plan that will be followed during the forthcoming RECAMP activities on this matter.

    At the end of the workshop participants were able to identify pilot centers depending of the criteria put forward for the exercise. In addition, participants have come up with activity plans to be following during the physical piloting workshop.

    The 13th Edition of the All Africa Leather Fair (AALF), which ran through 20th – 22nd April 2023 at Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, was concluded to have global business linkages in the leather sector.

    Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) Co-sponsored and co-organized this edition which is an Ideal Platform for Leather and Leather Products and allied Industries markets in Africa.
