    Chingola Leather Cluster in Zambia is now set to provide certified eco-friendly industrial gloves to the mines and engineering industry large. This is as the result of the capacity building intervention provided by Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute(ALLPI) in Collaboration with the Government of the Republic of Zambia through Ministry of Commerce , Trade and Industry and Konkola Copper Mines Plc (KCM). In 2018, ALLPI conducted Skills training in design and production of Industrial gloves at Chingola Leather Cluster as part of its deliverables among other things stipulated in the MOU signed with KCM.

    The ambassador of the Embassy of Zambia in Ethiopia and permanent representative to the Africa Union (AU) and the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) Her Excellency Mrs Rose Kashembe Sakala visited ALLPI on the 22nd August, 2023. The purpose of the visit was to acquaint herself with the work of ALLPI as well as have the opportunity to interact with some selected institutions and SMEs in the leather sector in Ethiopia. ALLPI facilitated a guided tour of Her Excellency to the selected institutions.

    The ALLPI team led by the Acting Executive Director (Ag.ED) and Programmes Coordinator, Mr. Ghebregziabher Ghebremedhin welcomed the Ambassador and permanent representative to the AU and UNECA and expressed gratitude for her visit.

  • The Delegation from ALLPI Academia Platform Visits Ege University-Turkey

     High University Officials from Africa Leather and Leather Products Institute (ALLPI) Academia Platform participating Universities visited Ege University, Turkey from August 25-30, 2019. The purpose of the visit was sharing of knowledge/experience, benchmarking and signing of MoU for close collaboration with Ege University in the areas of mutual interest. The delegation included vice chancellors, Directors, Dean, Department heads and senior academicians from six universities, namely Bahirdar University-EiTEX-Ethiopia, Dedan Kimathi University of Science and Technology-Kenya, Sudan Technological University-Sudan, Kymbogo University-Uganda, Makerere University Business School-Uganda and Copperstone University of Zambia.  ALLPI in close collaboration with Prof. Bari Basaran Dean, Graduate School of Natural and Applied Science of Ege University facilitated and coordinated the visit program. Prof. Mekonnen Hailemariam, Advisor to the Executive Director, ALLPI, led the visiting delegation.
